WELCOME TO KAS POKENO
Our Pokeno programme has been open since 2020.

We operate our programme out of the new Playcentre building. The Playcentre has a full kitchen we use for baking/cooking activities and food preparation.
Pokeno Playcentre has a fenced in playground and large sandpit, we also have access to the Pokeno school's large field during our operating hours where we take children for sports activities.

We run a Holiday programme at our Pokeno site.

Before School Care

6.30am - programme open

6.30 - 6.45am - quiet activities

6.45 - 7.40am - breakfast

8.10am - whistle blows for cleanup, then staff run an organised game

8.20am - children sit down ready to be signed out/roll call

8.30am - children released to school, new entrants are walked to their classroom

โAfter School Care

3.00 - 3.30pm - sign in, homework club and a supervised game and/or craft

3.30 - 3.45pm - afternoon tea

3.45 - 4.45pm - structured group activity time e.g. cooking, science, arts and crafts, sports and games

4.45 - 5.15pm - roll call then free choice, playground time or an organised game

5.15 - 6.00pm - clean up and wind down, quiet gamesโ

โHoliday Programme
8am to 3pm – main programme, plus we offer before and after care from 7am to 8am, and from 3pm to 6pm.

6.30 - 10.00am - (No trip) kids choice, supervised games and crafts are set up for children to participate

10.00 - 10.15am - morning tea (children bring their own)

10.15 - 12.30pm - activity time - organised themed activities in groups

12.30 - 1.00pm - lunch (children bring their own)

1.15 - 3.30pm - activity time - organised themed activities in groups

3.30pm - afternoon tea (supplied by KAS)

4.00pm - 5.30pm - kids choice and supervised activities

I love working with kids and enjoy doing day to day activities with them. I love that no single day at work is the same. I admire children’s endless energy , honesty, creativity, flexibility and resilience. I love cooking, doing arts and craft, and playing sports.

Being a teacher's assistant back in SA, I was very happy to still be working with kids when I got the opportunity to join the KAS team. When not spending time with family and friends or visiting the gem sites NZ has to offer, I enjoy DIY projects - upholstery and crafts.

Before moving to Pokeno, I worked at Papatoetoe High School for 12 years as a Teacher Aide. I love working with kids and have been in teaching profession for 20 years. At present I am working at Pokeno school, that is where I came to know about KAS. In my spare, I love working in the garden and enjoy cooking.

I grew my love working for/with kids, once I became an auntie to many nieces and nephews. Seeing kids grow and be the best versions of themselves feels rewarding. I love my cars, 2 dogs, music and anything to do with travelling. Very family orientated & always up for a good laugh.
